What’s the best way to tell our story? We could have written a essay, but that’s boring. Instead we’ll let you all piece it together. Here’s a timeline of our experiences dating back to 2017. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words—so here’s 100,000.
2017
The first photo we can find together. Not yet dating—we decide to do a group Halloween costume. We go as as Bob and Louise from one of our favorite shows, Bob’s Burgers.
2018
We sit together Tom and Joy Lynne’s wedding. We’ve been dating for a few months, but haven’t told anybody. Maybe a few people know though…
If you couldn’t tell—Halloween is kind of a big deal. In 2018 we convinced a bunch of our friends to join us as cereal box characters.
Our first experience seeing the Botanical Garden’s Holiday Lights. It’s something we’ve done almost every year since.
Setting up a Christmas tree in Holly’s Virginia Ave apartment. Remi tries to help despite being in a doughnut.
Maybe we’re getting older, but instead of going to a big party we decide to join a small group of friends at Tom and Joy Lynne’s place to celebrate the new year.
2019
South beach Miami for a few days—we explore art deco neighborhoods, artwork, museums and try a few cocktails.
Trip to the Bahamas for Deal’s 30th birthday.
Camp on the beach at Hunting Island State Park for Holly’s birthday. Tiny party hats included.
A Willy Wonka-themed Halloween.
Holly bakes Remi a pumpkin cupcake for his second birthday. We’re unsure about the candles.
2020
Holly goes to Denver to get certified at the Star Institute. We stay for a week, sled, eat deserts and visit Red Rocks.
All the things, all at once
March 2020
After returning from Denver Holly and Remi move into the condo. We plan a birthday brunch with friends, but decide to cancel because of COVID. The following week lockdowns begin.
After months of being locked indoors. We decide to take a beach trip to St. Simons for a long weekend. Remi and Holly try to befriend someone’s pet pig. He’s not interested.
Ramsay brings Scip over to meet us for the first time. Remi makes a life-long friend.
Holly turns 28. We stop and visit Tom and Joy Lynne in New Smyrna beach for a couple nights. Then we continue to the keys and camp at Key Bahia Honda State Park for a few nights.
Backcountry camping at Providence Canyon. Some haircuts are needed.
We make the most of COVID during the holidays and rent a small cabin at Amicalola Falls. No parties for New Years—we dress up, get a fancy take-out meal and hang out in the condo. 2020 was a tough year, but we’re certain that 2021 will be better.
2021
A memorable long weekend at Sweet Olive Farm. We stay in a cute, quirky farm house, and meet some of the animals.
A few days in Grand Teton National Park with my parents, Rachel and Andy. Then we head south to Yellowstone for a few days. We meet up with Michelle and explore.
Home sweet home
September 18, 2021
After more than 6 months looking, we find a cute house in Kirkwood. Remi finally gets a yard.
Barley moved-in, we travel to Port St. Joe with Lauren and Blake to celebrate Holly’s birthday.
With a little extra room in the house we decide to foster a couple of puppies for a month—Munchie and Mangia. When we got them they were just 3 pounds. With their cartoonishly round bodies and tiny legs—we affectionately refer to them as the “bug puppies.”
2022
In January of 2022, Ramsay moves back from Korea. He and Scip stay with us for a few weeks while they find an apartment.
Otto
February 28, 2022
We adopt a tiny sheepadoodle puppy and decide to name him Otto. He doesn’t stay tiny long.
A couple of months later we decide take a Otto on his first beach trip. It’s rainy and a little chilly, but we make it to the beach.
We head to Snoqualmie to visit with Rachel in Washington. We get a surprise glimpse of Thomas the Tank Engine sleeping.
Engaged
July 22, 2022
After overcoming COVID, we book a last minute trip to Port St. Joe. The very first day we’re alone on the beach and I ask her to marry me—and she says yes!
For Holly’s 30th birthday we get a giant rainbow unicorn bounce house and have friends and family over to celebrate. More Photos↗︎

For Sam’s 34th birthday we get the crew together for a Hawks game.
